Cate
Covert hails from sunny Idaho, U.S.A. She is a gardener and amateur herbalist
who sings, plays guitar and piano, loves baking bread, and makes beaded jewelry.
Most of all, Cate loves to engage her reading and listening audiences.
She
raised her children on such classics as Hannah Hurnard’s Hind’s Feet on High
Places, John Bunyan’s Pilgrim’s Progress, and C.S. Lewis’s
Chronicles of Narnia—reading out loud, performing character voices, and
pantomiming dramatic scenes to their great delight.
Cate
has been telling entertaining stories since she could talk. She frequently
enthralled her familial audience with spine-tingling tales of friendly,
long-legged cave-dwelling creatures, her fictional membership in G.L.O.W.
(Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling), and fanciful tales of her non-existent glory
days as a roller derby queen.
Cate
isn’t all fun and frivolity. She has lived in fourteen U.S. states, Ontario,
Canada, and Couva, Trinidad (TT, West Indies). She has been an avid fisherwoman
all her life and is a former member and Coxswain in the U.S. Coast Guard
Auxiliary (for 14 years).
After
the 2012 earthquake, she spent some time in Haiti and the Dominican Republic,
translating and helping with the logistics of coordinating humanitarian
donations from the U.S.A. with local Haitian missions and orphanages in need in
the Montrouis, Haiti, area.
